Whiskey Barons // Tumbao 12" (BSTRD Boots)

Track artwork

Take your bland dancefloor and cover it with Cholula! Boston's Whiskey Barons make their first appearance on the BSTRD Boots label with a little bit of Sabor Latino... produced entirely by DJ Amphibious (co producer of the Cerrone "Hooked On You" remix currently being caned by Giles Peterson), the 12" is four expert dancefloor reconstructions and re-workings of classics from the Latin diaspora.

"La Murga Skank" is a monster dub of Willie Colon's classic "La Murga" with double-time percussion and claps with and bubblin' reggae keys on top. Next up, "Tumbao" is an absolutely filthy midtempo remix of La Protesta's classic "Coje Tumbao" that will have dancefloors perked up and hands clapping, guaranteed.
On the flip, La Protesta's "Fe Y Esperanza" gets reworked into a swirling stomper of a Latin Disco beast by the Barons, while Tito Puente's unmistakable percussion clicks beautifully with Columbia's Latin Brothers "Son De Caballo".

An absolutely unmissable record for the new Latin dancefloor sound.

Early DJ support from Sinden on Kiss 100 UK, Nickodemus, Jeremely Sole on KCRW LA, Jelly Jazz, DJ Sabo, etc... Here's a quick mix of all the tracks:
